I’ve always been drawn to Crime series, Psychological Thrillers, and Dramas. For me, a great movie or show isn't just about the action, it’s about the meaning it leaves behind. I love stories that make me reflect on life long after I’ve finished watching them. Basically, if it’s deep, emotional, and makes me think, I’m going to like it.

In addition, one thing I find really fascinating is getting inside the mind of complex characters, even psychopaths, for example, in shows like Dexter or You, I like seeing how the story is told from their perspective. Apart from that, it is really interesting to see how you can actually empathize with someone like that or understand their twisted logic.

My Favourites

1. Dexter (Michael Cuesta, 2006)

This is a classic for me. It’s about a forensic expert who is also a serial killer, but he only targets other murderers. I love how the show lets you get into his head. It’s fascinating to see his internal struggle and how the line between "good" and "bad" gets blurred.

2. You (Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble, 2018)

In this series, the main character is a stalker and a killer, but he thinks everything he does is for "love." Just like with Dexter, I like how the show forces you to see things from his point of view. It makes you think about how people can justify their worst actions.

3. Beautiful Boy (Felix van Groeningen, 2018)

This is my top favourite! It is a very emotional drama about a family dealing with addiction. It’s a sad and heavy story, but it’s beautiful because it’s so honest. It leaves you thinking a lot about the people you love and how hard it is to help someone who is struggling.

4. Fight Club (David Fincher, 1999)

This is a mind twisting thriller. It starts out being about a secret fighting club, but it’s actually about identity and how society affects our minds. It has a great twist and really challenges the way you look at the world.

5. About Time (Richard Curtis, 2013)

This one is a bit different because it’s a mix of drama, romance and time travel. It’s very moving and focuses on the importance of the little things in life. It has a deep meaning that always leaves me reflecting on how I spend my time and how I live each and every day.

Analyzing my favorites, I could say that each one of them has love as a main conflict or moving aspect for the characters, but with different focuses or messages. Apart from that, all of these works leave the viewers with a deep reflection or an analysis for the after-watch; they are not only movies or series you see for entertainment and forget about them the second you finish them.
