Hello! I finally started to think about what I want to do for my opening scene. After a thorough brainstrom, here are some of my ideas!

            1. Suspense/Horror opening scene inspired in Scream 1 (1996, Wes Craven) or Scream 6 (2023, Matt Benittelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett), Scream 7 (2026, Kevin Williamson)

I want to build tension slowly and make the audience feel that something is wrong before anything actually happens.

  • Girl alone at home at night (Low lighting, quiet house, tense atmosphere)

  • She is watching a horror movie (like Scream)

    • She looks around

    • Subtle noises

    • She is scared

  • She receives a text from her mom: “We are arriving home” (She feels safer)

  • Then… the house phone suddenly rings (tension)

  • She answers → it is her mum

    • Her mom says they are NOT arriving yet (flight delayed)

      • Text says they are arriving, call says otherwise (tension again, she is very scared)

      • Something is wrong, the audience is left in suspense.

  • Ending idea: The girl is very confused, she looks at her phone, suddenly… there's a noise in the house (door, footsteps, something falls). She slowly turns around, SCREAMS.

Cut to black – Movie title.

2. Suspensee, mystery → Inspo of the book “The Do-Over” by Lyn Painter
  • A girl wakes up and follows her normal morning routine → She lives in a world where the same thing happens every day.

  • The day repeats exactly the same the second day, however, small details start to change, making her realize something is wrong.

  • On the third day, she notices a strange message on her phone: “You need to wake up.”

  • She is confused, suspense music appears, she put her cellphone in her pocket.

3. 2000's suspense (using inspo from Mean Girls 2004, Mark Waters, and the series Pretty Little Liars 2010, Norman Buckley.)
  • A girl wakes up (pop music, her room is full y2k aesthetic, everything colorful, positive, like a usual 2000’s movie.)

    • She can be presented by a freeze in the scene and her name of character and the name of the actress appearing on screen like this:

  • She goes to school. School hallway, everything usual. (Light pop music in the background

  • The girl walks and greets her friends)

  • Everything feels normal, until her phone vibrates (or opens her locker)

  • She reads a message:

    • “I know what you did.”

  • Happy music stops → Her expression changes, she looks around

    • No one seems to notice her → She looks at her friends that are in the hallway, they are talking normally, nothing happens, she doesn't know who could have sent that message.

  • The atmosphere feels tense

  • One friend calls her:

    • “Are you coming?”

      • She Looks at the message again, puts her phone away and walks towards them

  • Cut to black - Title / Title appears on screen in front of the girls.
